Oxenbury wines by the glass

Drop into these two local joints.  They serve our wine by the glass, as well as doing their thing.

When we left inner city Sydney, we wanted to move to a region where we could make great wine and still have a cultural lifestyle.  These two establishments are proof that the North East of Victoria, especially Beechworth, fits  the bill.

Oxenbury "the Twins" Vineyard Nebbiolo 2012 currently available by the glass.

Aaron and Martina are in the middle of the main street in Beechworth.  They open early for coffee drinkers and late for wine drinkers.  The Cellar Door Wine Store now makes the best coffee in Beechworth (only now that I don't make coffee in town!!) and has a range of wines available by the glass, and a small range of savoury and sweet foods as well.  Plus, their main business is a wine store.  They stock local, regional and a good selection of imported wine and beer for retail and internet sales.
Great for a glass of wine in the afternoon, or a wine bar hour or two on the weekend before dinner in one of Beechworth's great selection of restaurants.

This one is pretty exciting:

Tani Eat and Drink.
100 Gavan Street,
Bright, Vic

Tani is run by two fellow travellers: Rachel Reed and Hamish Nugent.  They are both excellent chefs who love the culture of the restaurant and food industry.

Tani was awarded "New Regional Restaurant of the Year" in 'The Age Good Food Guide 2014'.  So to be in their company is an honour.   Rachel is serving our viognier by the glass at the moment.  We aim to make an elegant wine with flavour and texture and that is pretty much how Rachel and Hamish try to present their food.

Bright is not far away from Beechworth, but I wish it were closer.
